SHINE A SPOTLIGHT ON OUR UNSUNG HEROES - Media Release

With just over a month until nominations close in this year’s NSW/ACT Regional Achievement & Community Awards, Port Stephens Council says it’s time to give thanks to our community leaders.

Speaking today, Port Stephens Mayor, Cr Ron Swan, said the area was renowned for its sense of community.

“Port Stephens conducts its own community awards and the calibre of nominees is always extremely high,” he said.

“Our volunteers, our community service employers, our local festival organisations and sporting committees all contribute so much to Port Stephens and now is the chance to show appreciation. I would urge people to nominate and showcase what a wonderful community like ours has to offer”.

Nominations are now open in six categories:
  The Department of State & Regional Development Business Enterprise Award
  The Department of State & Regional Development Events and Tourism Award
  The Integral Energy Regional Service Award
  The Kleenheat Gas Environment and Landcare Award
  The Department of Lands Crown Reserve Trust Award
  The Department of Lands Community of the Year Award

The Major presenters and prize patrons are offering the winners great television exposure thanks to PRIME Television, or a share in $30,000 AwardSaver accounts thanks to the Commonwealth Bank.

The program is designed to reward and acknowledge our unsung heroes, the Awards are proudly supported by The Land Newspaper, and the Local Government Shires Association of NSW.
