LOCALS ASKED TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED! - Media Release

Individuals, organisations and business networks in the Port Stephens community have the chance to be recognised through the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement & Community Awards.

Speaking today, Port Stephens Mayor, Councillor Ron Swan said he hoped local residents would nominate for the prestigious awards.

“The program is about recognising our hardworking locals who are making a valuable contribution to Port Stephens,” he said. 

“These are the unsung heroes who do not look for recognition but go about their work throughout our region with passion and commitment achieving for their families and our community”.

Nominations are now open in six categories:
• The Department of State & Regional Development Business Enterprise Award
• The Department of State & Regional Development Events and Tourism Award
• The Integral Energy Regional Service Award
• The Kleenheat Gas Environment and Landcare Award
• The Department of Lands Crown Reserve Trust Award
• The Department of Lands Community of the Year Award

The Commonwealth Bank is again offering a share of $30,000 in AwardSaver accounts for the winners in a number of categories.   Prime Television will recognise winners in the Business Enterprise and Events & Tourism categories with a Television Air Time Prize Package.  All category winners also receive a magnificent hand crafted glass trophy.

“If you would like to nominate an individual, business or community project, nomination forms are available from all sponsors, and from Port Stephens Council.

The NSW and ACT Regional Achievement & Community Awards are proudly Presented by PRIME Television and the Commonwealth Bank.  The Award Patrons are Integral Energy, Kleenheat Gas, the NSW Government through the Department of Lands and the Department of State & Regional Development.  These awards are also supported by The Land Newspaper and The Local Government Shires Association of NSW.
