Raymond Terrace flood study - media release

Last modified: September 22, 2009 - 4:45 PM

Port Stephens Council is asking the Raymond Terrace community to complete a survey which will compliment the Williams River Flood Study.

Council will use the information collected from residents to compare historical data with new mapping technology to better plan for floods in the area. .

Speaking today, Strategic Engineer Wal Mills said the Council needs to collect as much historical flood information from residents as possible.

"We would like information on any flooding or drainage problems that residents may have experienced in the past whether or not they live in a flood prone zone," he said.

"Any information on past flooding in Raymond Terrace is helpful, including dates, heights of flooding and photos," Mr Mills said.

The Council has distributed surveys directly to some residents to complete and return to Council by 15 October.

Anyone who is interested in the project or would like to complete a survey cab find more information by visiting www.portstephens.nsw.gov.au or contacting Strategic Engineer Wal Mills on 49 800 299
