Last chance for cultural opportunities - Media releaseLast modified: August 21, 2009 - 8:42 AM
The Port Stephens Council is urging community groups and local artists to get their Cultural Fund applications and their expressions of interest for the Mezzanine Art Gallery in before the closing date Monday 24 August.
Speaking today, Community Planner Chloe Beevers said community groups should act fast so they don’t miss out on the $30,000 available or the opportunity to exhibit at the Mezzanine Art Gallery. "There is $10,000 available for projects in each of the three wards and only one funding round per year," she said.
"So if projects are proposed to commence before 1 July 2010, you will need to apply now." "Any community groups wanting one-off financial support from Council for their cultural project need to apply through this funding program," she continued. "And the Mezzanine Art Gallery provides an opportunity for local artists and cultural groups to share their work with the broader community." Applications for both the Cultural Fund and Mezzanine Art Gallery are to be received at Port Stephens Council by 5pm 24 August 2009.
