Windeyers Creek Rivercare Plan

The Windeyers Creek Rivercare Plan has been complied by the Windeyers Creek Catchment Management Committee, to improve, protect and conserve the natural environment of the catchment.
The Windeyers Creek Rivercare Plan, which is an environmental management plan, has been developed a result of a large number of issues that are of concern in the Windeyers Creek Catchment located in Raymond Terrace. The environmental issues include, but are not limited to the following:
- Poor Water Quality
- Litter
- Urban Development
- Introduced Weeds - both aquatic & terrestrial
- Drain Maintenance
- Acid Sulfate Soils
- Domestic Pets and their effects on water quality
- Urban Stormwater
- Native Vegetation
- Native Animals
The Windeyers Creek Rivercare Plan contains a large number of recommendations that have been developed to improve, protect and conserve the natural environment of Windeyers Creek and the surrounding environment. The following a just a few of the recommendations:
- Remove introduced weeds from various sections of the creek
- Re-establish native vegetation
- Undertake community education campaigns to minimise domestic pets polluting water & stop green waste and litter dumping
- Upgrade the flood gate on the base of the creek and the Hunter River
- Minimise traditional drain maintenance work on the creek to decrease acid sulfate soils
- Undertake Waterwatch - water quality monitoring on a number of sites on the Creek.
- Employee bush regenerators to remove undertake bush regeneration
- Undertake drain stencilling on the stormwater inlets within the catchment.
- Collect native seed from native vegetation within the catchment.
