PSC470 - Ranger (Job Share - 20Hrs/week)

This position is responsible for the provision of a range of regulatory and educational functions to support the implementation of Acts and policies applicable to Councils activities. Functions include Companion Animal management, Parking surveillance and protection of the environment and assets.

This position is responsible for the provision of a range of regulatory and educational functions to support the implementation of Acts, Regulations, Policies and Codes applicable to Councils activities. Functions include Companion Animals management, Parking  and Weights of Loads Surveillance, protection of the environment and assets through regular patrol of Councils parks, reserves and beaches and involvement in community education functions.

SELECTION CRITERIA (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & CAPACITY)

ORGANISATIONAL

• Communication abilities necessary for the purpose of identifying needs & conveying factual information;

• Ability to convey information and advice to the public on a course of action appropriate for their needs and that is consistent with organisational  policy & guidelines;

• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and to provide quality outcomes to a range of customers.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Class 1(a) Drivers Licence;

• Proficiency in the use of off road vehicles and driving vehicles in off road situations;

• An interest and experience in animal control & management including domestic, native and feral animals

• Ability and experience in court proceedings, investigations, report writing, penalty recovery & the issue of infringement notices.

• Conversant with & experience in implement all Acts and Regulations applicable to the positions function.  Specifically possess a working knowledge of the Local Government Act 1993, The Companion Animals Act, Impounding Act, Australian Road Rules & Protection of the Environment Operations Act.

Salary Range:  Salary Point 11 ($20.90 to $24.59/hour) – penalty Rates apply for weekend shifts.

Appointment subject to satisfactory completion of probationary period.
