Tanilba Bay

Tanilba Bay means 'place of wild flowers' and is the first community located on the Tilligerry Peninsula.

Tanilba Bay is a tranquil spot surrounded on three sides by the waters of Port Stephens and Tilligerry Creek. From Newcastle follow Nelson Bay Road and turn left at the roundabout onto Lemon Tree Passage Road that leads to the Tilligerry Peninsula. Turn left at the Avenue of the Allies to the entrance of Tanilba Bay and you will be greeted by stone centenary gates built in 1931 to commemorate the centenary of the arrival of Lieutenant William Caswell in Tanilba. Follow Avenue of the Allies to the foreshore where you will find many more examples of this stonework along the foreshore reserves and at historic Tanilba House.
