* Disability Action Plan

Port Stephens Council in conjunction with its community has designed a Disability Action Plan to further its intention of creating an equitable, inclusive and socially cohesive community.

 Disability Action Plan

 A Disability Action Plan (DAP) is a document which:

  • describes what a Port Stephens Council service provider intends on doing to make the services and facilities it already provides, or has control or influence over, as accessible to, and appropriate for, people with disabilities as can reasonably be achieved
  • guides Council in eliminating discriminatory practices
  • describes what action Council will take to further improve the physical and social environment for people with disabilities

* MLAK Key & Permits

The Master Locksmith Access Key is a symbol which is placed on the door of accessible toilets throughout the Port Stephens Local Government Area.

The symbol indicates that the key to open the door of a locked accessible toilet is available from Locksmiths who are members of the Master Locksmiths Association. This key will unlock all accessible toilets across Australia fitted with the MLAK system.

Access to the key is restricted to people who have a disability or those who have a letter of authority from:

  • A doctor

  • A disability organisation

  • The centre manager or owner of a building with an accessible toilet on site.

The key can be purchased from Locksmiths who are members of the Masters Locksmiths Association and Port Stephens Council for a cost of $12.00.

Locksmiths who have the Masters Locksmith's logo can be found in the yellow pages. You may want to ring the Locksmith to make sure you can access their premises.
