Port Stephens Local Disaster Plan (Displan)

The Local Disaster Plan outlines the response and recovery arrangements to manage local level emergencies in the Port Stephens Area to ensure a coordinated response to future incidents.

The Displan was prepared by the Port Stephens Local Emergency Management Committee (PSLEMC) in compliance with the State Emergency and Rescue Management Act, 1989 (SERM Act).

The SERM Act provides the basis for emergence management in NSW and in particular specifies:

  • the responsibility of the Minister;
  • the establishment of State, District and Local Emergency Management Committees of which the PSLEMC belongs;
  • the production of Disaster Plans by these committees and
  • arrangements for controlling emergency operations such as establishing the responsibilities of the agencies involved.
