How to Reserve a Columbarium Wall or Garden Niche

There are four memorial memorial sites in the Port Stephens area where ashes can be placed for remembrance.

Carumbah Memorial Gardens - Stockton Street, Nelson Bay

  • Three Columbarium Walls
  • One new Terrazzo Wall
  • Six Garden locations
  • Anna Bay Lawn Cemetery - Nelson Bay Road, Anna Bay

  • Three Columbarium Walls located at the front of the cemetery
  • Two Columbarium Walls located in the Gazebo in the middle of the cemetery grounds
  • Raymond Terrace Cemetery - Elizabeth Street, Raymond Terrace

  • One Columbarium Wall overlooking the cemetery grounds
  • Karuah Cemetery - Old Pacific Highway, Karuah

  • One older Columbarium Wall
  • One new Terrazzo Wall
  • Provision of niche spaces can be purchase in advance (reservations) or at need. Plaques can be placed in rememberance even if the ashes have been scattered.

    Reservations

  • Reservations can be made for future use
  • The reservation price is for the niche space only
  • The application & payment is processed and a Right of Burial Certificate sent to the applicant (Grantee) to keep with  personal papers
  • Download the Columbarium Wall / Garden Application Form
  • Immediate Use

  • Application can be made directly to Council or through the Funeral Director by the next of kin / executor (Grantee)
  • Location of available niches can be verified with Council staff
  • A site visit by the family to the wall / garden location, to choose the niche position often gives a "sense of place"
  • A wording template is submitted with the application and the plaque ordered (normally up to 6 weeks)
  • Ashes can be delivered directly to Council for installation or arrangements can be made to collect ashes from the funeral director
  • Council will contact the next of kin (Grantee) to notify of completion of installation
  • The Grantee is sent the Right of Burial Certificate
  • Download the Columbarium Wall / Garden Application Form for terms & conditions
  • Plaques

  • Bronze columbarium wall plaques measure 165 mm x 127 mm and are installed over the niche after the ashes have been interred
  • Bronze bushland garden plaques measure 185 mm x 185 mm, are bottle green coloured and are installed in the garden bed after the ashes have been interred. There is the option of having the top and bottom lines curved around the plaque.
  • Terrazzo Oval plaque (only available at Carumbah Gardens & Karuah) are oval in shape with a gum motif and come with an attached vase. There is the option of having the bottom line curved around the plaque.
